Intelligence Built Around Client Experience
Arista’s management layer focuses on the user’s experience rather than treating link statistics as the final answer. CloudVision CUE tracks each stage of client connectivity and presents the wireless estate through a graphical topology. The platform collects telemetry that helps administrators trace poor service through radio conditions, client behavior, network state and application performance across the full connection path.
CloudVision CUE brings machine learning into the investigation by learning normal network behavior, spotting anomalies and sorting connection failures as they happen. Single-client inferencing picks out users with poor service and suggests a next fix, turning a loose complaint into a technical path the network team can follow and resolve.
When a failure occurs, the software automatically captures packet traces and stores them alongside the related event. Administrators can investigate after the incident has passed without waiting for the problem to recur during an active troubleshooting session.
The access points also behaves like test clients by using their multifunction radios. They run network profiles and mimic client activity, so problems can surface before users open a ticket. For voice and video, Arista’s quality models read flow data and estimate the application experience, helping teams see whether conferencing traffic is working properly during live sessions.
Distributed Decisions at the Edge
Arista pushes much of the decision-making out to the access point rather than routing it through a central controller. Each unit can read nearby channel conditions, tune transmit power and share load. Band selection, association behavior, roaming support and radio resources are handled locally, giving the wireless edge room to adjust as conditions shift.
Quality controls are also kept close to the traffic. Available capacity is evaluated before allowing new voice or video traffic to enter. The access points marks the application traffic, manage airtime, manage broadcasts and convert the multicast traffic for efficient channel management. Standard-based roaming provides faster mobility without having every decision routed through a centralized controller.
Security Woven into the Wireless Fabric
Arista builds security into the same wireless architecture rather than treating it as a separate overlay. Multifunction radios serve as wireless intrusion prevention sensors, detecting, classifying, blocking and reporting suspicious activity. CloudVision CUE also supports secure bring-your-own-device policies and a zero-trust approach for users, endpoints, campus systems and connected devices across dispersed locations.
CloudVision AGNI extends identity and access control across wired and wireless environments. It connects network infrastructure through encrypted RadSec tunnels, applies access policies, shares user or device context and records authentication telemetry. An on-premises deployment option gives organizations with strict data or regulatory requirements another way to run those controls within their own facilities.
For instance, at Oak Grove School District, Arista’s security model had to work across school-owned devices and personal ones. With CloudVision AGNI, their IT team could protect network resources and set access policies without splitting the work across separate systems. Identity, access, segmentation and wireless protection came together in one management framework, giving the district a simpler way to run security across a mixed-device environment.
From Architecture to Campus Results
Arista’s architecture becomes easier to understand when it is seen in a live network, not just on a feature sheet. IE University deployed its campus architecture at the 32-story IE Tower in Madrid. The site required high-capacity connectivity for 6,000 students and 1,000 staff, including 60 classrooms broadcasting lessons in real time. Its network combined switches, wireless access points, open protocols and cloud-based management to support on-site and remote learning.
Arista installed over 400 access points and many switches in less than six weeks, all without delaying the university’s planned launch. The use of zero-touch provisioning helped in configuring the equipment even before delivery, with automatic discovery making device setup swift post-delivery. CloudVision gave IE University real-time visibility and the ability to change configurations directly. The network completed stress testing beyond the university’s expected maximum load and supported a full academic year for users on campus and those joining remotely.
