Single Mode Cable

The cable's diameter ranges from 8.3 to 10 microns, and it may transmit data at 1310 or 1550 nm. It does, however, have a larger bandwidth than multi-mode fiber.

It is approximately fifty times greater than multi-mode. Because of the smaller core of the single-mode, there is less distortion and delay. Multi-Mode Cable
Multi-mode cables have a core diameter of 50 or 62.5 m and may carry numerous signals. This type of optical fiber cable is available for delivering data at high speeds ranging from 10 to 100MBS and covers an area of 275m to 2km for Gigabit. It is capable of providing connectivity over medium distances. Light waves are spread into several channels in a typical multi-mode cable core with sizes of 50, 62.5, and 100 micrometers. Multiple light routes can cause signal distortion or loss at the receiving end of long links. Therefore, it can carry many signals; however, there is a range loss. There are two types of multi-mode cables: Step-Index Multimode Fiber and Graded-Index Multimode Fiber are two types of the multi-mode fiber.
Plastic Optical Fiber (POF)
A polymer optical fiber is a plastic optical fiber (POF). It sends light signals through its core but is more resistant to stretching and bending than glass fiber and uses a polymer substance for cladding. In POF, 96 percent of the core can permit light signal transfer and is suitable for short distances.
