Companies are using SDN for network deployment to increase the efficiency of the network.
FREMONT, CA: In the past few years, one of the biggest trends that have gained popularity is CSP (Communication Service Provider). CSPs provide an end to end communications services with the SaaS model. Therefore, the enterprises are keen to use the services offered by CSPs instead of developing them in-house. Due to such popularity, the power has shifted gradually to CSPs.

This is one of the significant challenges of adopting the technology as it has a higher benchmark for the new technology to disrupt the entire industry.
SDN Use Cases for Network Deployment
SDN uses cases can be divided into two significant network deployment situations, which are brownfield and greenfield. The type of SDN necessary for the greenfield network requires a minimum, though the brownfield deployment can be challenging. However, all the networks have to go through several transformations that result in expansion, upgrades, and migrations. Such transformation provides several opportunities for integrating SDN in various ways. The following cases can be used for SDN, which relies on the implementation of network and situation.
Greenfield Deployment
It is better to implement SDN if the companies want to implement a corporate WAN or service provider network that serves several end-user applications. They can also apply SDN if they want different traffic, VPN routing requirements (through VRF), QoS, or seasonal variations
Tech Refresh
Companies can also plan and implement SDN based infrastructure as a part of the tech refresh to be upgraded to existing network deployment. When the network hardware inventory undergoes disbandment, every networking equipment and systems can reach their end of life. This situation can also be an internal decision so that it can replace outdated technology or might be implemented by the vendor when they declare to end the support. This can be an accurate situation for the companies to upgrade the network hardware and software to support SDN.
