16GB of memory enables industry-leading transfer rates of up to 24Gb/s, making it ideal for gamers and content creators.
FREMONT, CA: Bandwidth is a critical determinant of the quality and speed of a network or internet connection. In short, the more bandwidth one has, the faster and more efficient the internet will be. Micron Technology has come up with its new 16GB GDDR6X memory, which is now shipping in the NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3090 Ti graphics card. Micron's latest GDDR6X memory offers twice the capacity and up to 15 percent faster performance than the previous 8Gb version. End users will benefit from razor-sharp visuals, increased frame rates, and exceptional performance in memory-intensive applications such as gaming and content creation.

"The industry-leading capabilities of Microns GDDR6X memory help bring new levels of realism and performance to the most demanding applications," comments Mark Montierth, vice president, and general manager of High-Performance Memory and Networking Micron. "Micron is at the forefront of the memory innovation powering today's highest bandwidth solutions and built with the advanced process and interface technology to enable continued graphics performance leadership."
Micron extends its performance leadership by introducing a new 16GB graphics memory module that runs at an industry-leading 21Gb/s in the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. With a performance roadmap of up to 24Gb/s, GDDR6X is prepared for the future's data-intensive applications. Additionally, Micron's innovative use of PAM4 signaling techniques in GDDR6X makes it the most energy-efficient GDDR6 product currently available.
As games and graphic rendering techniques advance, graphics processing units require massive amounts of data to move at breakneck speeds, putting a strain on the system's graphics memory. Virtual reality gaming, 4K and 8K monitors with 240Hz refresh rates, and demanding 3D CAD applications push graphics systems to their limits. Due to GDDR6X's unmatched memory bandwidth, these high-resolution experiences can be enjoyed at ultra-fast frame rates and near-instant rendering, providing users with lifelike effects. GDDR6X capabilities, when combined with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card, enhance real-time ray tracing and neural graphics processing, enabling virtual worlds to achieve the immersive, cinematic effects they require. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti features 24GB of GDDR6X memory, which allows GPU performance of 40 teraflops.
The unprecedented bandwidth of GDDR6X is made possible by Micron's pioneering work with PAM4 signal transmission technology, which revolutionized how memory moves data. GDDR6X utilizes Micron's PAM4 signaling technique, which increases memory bandwidth and boosts system bandwidth up to 1TB/s, making it ideal for graphics applications requiring high-speed, low-power memory. This capability is not available from any other memory vendor.
The addition of 16GB of GDDR6X memory represents a significant milestone in Micron's Ultra-Bandwidth Solutions portfolio, including GDDR6 and HBM2E. These solutions, taken together, form the industry's most comprehensive portfolio of high-performance, high-bandwidth products for data-intensive applications.
