An antenna is a metallic structure employed to broadcast or capture radio electromagnetic signals. They are available in different sizes and forms. Small antennas are located on roofs to view television, whereas large ones are used to capture signals via satellites. SCaN (Space Communications and Navigation) antennas primarily feature a bowl-shaped antenna that focuses signals at a specific end known as a parabolic antenna. This type of antenna can transmit and receive electromagnetic signals, and it may move vertically and horizontally to broadcast and receive the signal.
A signal is sent from a transmission line to an antenna, where it is transformed into electromagnetic energy and transmitted across space. An electrical device, like an antenna or an aerial, is sometimes employed to convert electrical power to electromagnetic signals and vice versa. Antennas are required for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic radiation.
An antenna in a transmitting antenna holds electrical impulses from a transmission line and converts them into radio waves. The receiving antenna is the polar opposite since it receives radio signals from space, converts them to electrical impulses, and sends them to a transmission line. Bandwidth, gain, polarization, radiation pattern, impedance, and beam width are common antenna properties.
There are several reasons to utilize antennas, but the main one is that they give a simple way to transmit signals where other methods are ineffective. For example, the pilot of an airplane must often communicate with ATC employees. As a result, they can communicate with one another via wireless communication and antennae, which are the entrance points for that. Thus, there are several conditions under which cables are preferred over wireless communication via antennas.
