Accessing foreign material over mobile networks is becoming more and more common. However, the information traveling over the airwaves only tells half the story. MBH occurs in the background while data is sent from cell sites to data centers and other locations.
According to recent studies, the proportion of data-hungry smartphones will rise from less than fifty percent of all devices in 2014 to roughly 70 percent by 2018. A glance around a supermarket or shopping center will reveal that cell phones are widely used and that practically everyone carries one.
The adoption of high-bandwidth, video-centric content will cause mobile smartphone users to continue to consume bandwidth exponentially in the coming years. Faster mobile networks have launched to handle the surge in demand by individuals using more sophisticated smartphones. The method people use to obtain data has changed dramatically throughout this period. Consumers consume higher-bandwidth material more often and over longer periods, creating a perfect storm of increased bandwidth usage.
WiFi networks used to be the go-to option for accessing data-intensive apps, whether at home, in coffee shops, or in other handy locations. Before starting backbreaking work (like downloading a movie), smartphone users frequently waited for WiFi. However, the balance is beginning to tip in favor of mobile data network access, which will further contribute to the growth of the MBH network bandwidth in future years. Blazing-fast LTE connections are almost universal, and 5G is on the horizon.
The whole mobile infrastructure, including the MBH network, will be impacted by these drastic increases in bandwidth demand. The MBH network links wireline networks connected to distant data centers hosting content and applications to Radio Access Network air interfaces at small and macro cell sites. The main reason Mobile Network Operators & wholesale operators are primarily focused on the MBH network as a significant aspect of their short- to long-term business objectives is because the RAN is an increasingly important component of the global network infrastructure.
MNOs are constantly fighting to keep up with the ferocious bandwidth demand growth rates, which are expected to continue. As wireless access velocities to video-centric user content mainly rise, MBH networks' capacity, dependability, and availability must thus grow.
