Various IoT layers collect ample data to analyze, optimize and enhance business functions
Fremont, CA: The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of internet-connected devices with software and sensors to streamline information across the network via the internet. IoT networks collect data, analyze it, and predict outcomes for future planning. IoT technology has a lot of future potentials, and so a lot of organizations are adopting it.

IoT fundamentals are divided into various layers, which are:
Perception layer
This IoT layer is a medium between the digital and the real world. It is created by the components of the Internet Physical design of IoT. The function of the perception layer is to transform analog signals into digital signals or vice versa. It has a multitude of shapes and sizes with different sensors, actuators, and devices.
Connectivity layer
In the connectivity layer, communication is the core between physical device layers and IoT architecture. This communication uses two methods: TCP or UDP stack, or gateways to link LAN and WAN, helping the communication to go through multiple protocols. IoT systems include several network technologies like WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, NFC, LPWAN, cellular networks, and some more.
Edge layer
With the growth in IT networks and size, latency becomes a significant challenge. It isn't easy to connect multiple devices to one main center. Edge computing can accelerate the overall growth of IoT systems. Edge IoT layers allow systems to connect with more devices at a lower latency than the traditional network standards.
Processing layer
In the processing layer, IoT systems collect, store and process the data. There are two stages in the processing layer; data accumulation and data abstraction. There is a pool of data across IoT networks. Data professionals need to select the data precisely by understanding the business requirements. After data accumulation, data is selected from a large amount of data to optimize business processes, called data abstraction.
Application layer
In the application layer, IoT systems are connected with software that can comprehend the data wisely. The data is analyzed to gather business insights and enhance decision-making.
Business layer
An organization tries to accomplish its objectives by gathering and analyzing data for better future plans. After the data is gathered, it is applied to business strategies. The more the data, the better it is for business analysis and decisions.
Security layer
Security is the most needed thing in the IT infrastructure. The security layer faces challenges like data breaches and hacking while integrating IoT systems. The security in the IoT layers must consist of device security, cloud security, and connection security.
